The houses are well-equipped, centrally-heated and furnished to a high standard but they are not equipped for the disabled. Each house has off-road parking for two cars, well laid-out gardens with patio area and secure storage for bicycles and outdoor gear. An electric mobility scooter can be made available for those with limited walking ability.

Bakewell is the perfect base for a variety of activities, whether walking, cycling, visiting nearby stately homes (such as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall) and other attractions, or just relaxing in wonderful peaceful surroundings. The town is full of character, with a wide range of shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants, parks and gardens and a large outdoor market every Monday, including Bank Holidays.  Bakewell hosts a number of annual festivals, including the Bakewell Carnival, the Bakewell Show, the Bakewell Arts Festival and the Bakewell Acousitc Music Festival.
